Assignment Ib - Social Networking Technology - EDN113
For assignment 1b we were asked to think about an event that we could incorporate a social technology into the organization or management of it, and then write up detailed instructions for people to follow. I chose to create a family reunion event and create a family tree to display at the reunion, as I have quite a large family. To do this I chose myheritage.com. It is a great site with many great tools to use, some of these are;
- Create a family tree; this is a fantastic tool and is one of the main focuses in the instructions provided below.
- Invite family members by email to contribute to the site; Family members can log on to your family site and add information that you have left out and create events themselves it is a great way for your family tree and site to build faster.
- Create family events; create an event and all your family will be notified by email.
- Create and customize a family calender; This is not explained in my instructions but is made easy to do by the website. You just follow their steps and can have a customized family calender in no time!
- It does not stop there. There are loads of great tools that you can use in addition to these on the site!
The reason I chose myheritage.com is because it is simple and easy to use and is quite user friendly, also because you are allowed access to the majority of the site without having to pay to upgrade. By following the instructions in the file below you will learn how to create a family tree step by step, how to invite family members to join your family site and contribute to it, and how to create a family reunion as an event on your family site.
