Hello fellow bloggers,
So today I began working on assignment 1b for EDN113. To be honest I was hoping to have started it earlier and now I am realizing that I really should have as it is going to take me a lot longer than I thought! A part of the assignment is to research a social technology, and I have chosen one that I am really unfamiliar with! We then have to write up a detailed description on how to use it. I am trying to put as much detail as I can into it but it is a little taxing!
I have chosen to go with myheritage.com after speaking to my lecturer for the unit she told me that my heritage has so many things you can do compared to other sites that mainly focus on the family tree aspect. My heritage allows you to invite family members onto the site so they can contribute and you can get up to something like 400 family members before they 'hassle' you about going premium. She also told me to be careful that I don't get carried away with what you can do on the site, because there are so many things you can do she said make sure to limit yourself to a few things otherwise your instructions will be going on for days.
In my last workshop our lecturer demonstrated how to get jing on our computers, jing is a free downloadable screen capture program and makes screen captures and editing them look so easy! My computer for some reason will not accept jing so I am having to do the screen captures the good old fashioned way which takes a lot longer! I take a screen shot by pressing alt and then the print screen key, I then open a power point document and paste the screen shot into it. I then crop the picture showing the main point for the capture and then save it as an image in my pictures folder. I then upload it onto my blog. It's not too difficult but I think it takes a few more steps then if I were using jing.
Goodbye for now.....
